¶If Germany has truly learned from its history, it will send tanks to defend Ukraine
While many have pledged support, Germany has a unique historical responsibility toward Zelenskyy and his people. It cannot shirk it.
by_Timothy Garton Ash for Guardian
The lesson to learn from that history is not that German tanks should never be used against Russia, whatever the Kremlin does, but that they should be used to protect Ukrainians, who were among the greatest victims of both Hitler and Stalin.

¶Talking Strategy Podcasts — Episode 12: A Practitioner’s View: Competitive Strategy with Mick Ryan
Recently retired Major General Mick Ryan sits down with Beatrice and Paul for the Series 2 finale of Talking Strategy.
by_Paul O’Neill and Beatrice Heuser for RUSI
Transcript available
Paul O'Neill: You have held numerous strategic leadership positions, so how would you define strategy?
Mick Ryan: Well, I think as we all know, there's no single definition for strategy. That's what makes it so interesting. I am very fond of Colin Gray’s definition where he sees it as a bridge between purpose and action. I think that really talks to what strategy really is about, and it's not a process. It's not an action. It's an outlook, where the purpose is really important, and action and resourcing and priorities should flow from it. So, for me, the Colin Gray definition is probably the one I am most enamoured with. But I know there's a lot of others out there that are, that are also useful.

¶Six months of full-scale war in Ukraine: thoughts, feelings, actions
Since the first weeks of the full-scale war, we have continued to study and analyze its impact on Ukrainian society. This third wave of research captures people's thoughts, experiences, and actions in Ukraine in different periods. During the third wave of research, we added questions about what worries people the most today, what practical lessons they learned during the full-scale war, how they think society has changed and how they would like to see the future of Ukraine.

Wisdom at the Edges
Rachel Naomi Remen
There is often more wisdom to be found at the edges of life than in its middle. Life-threatening illness may shuffle our values like a deck of cards. Sometimes a card that has been on the bottom of the deck for most of our lives turns out to be the top card, the thing that really matters. Having watched people sort their cards and play their hands in the presence of death for many years, I would say that rarely is the top card perfection, or possessions, or even pride. Most often the top card is love.

Жыве Беларусь* i Слава Україні!
* Жыве Беларусь! (‘May Belarus live!’) is used by those who support a free Belarus and has been sanctioned by the Lukashenko regime. The phrase means ‘life for Belarus’, so using it is a cheap shot against the Lukashenko regime.
Rascism & Polyarchy**
** The term ‘polyarchy’ was used by Robert A. Dahl in Polyarchy: Participation and Opposition. ‘The first usage listed is 1609: “The Bees abhor as well Polyarchy as Anarchy”.’
'Rascism' is lately coined to denote a fascism with a pronounced presumption of the superiority of one race or culture over others. Perhaps fascists will inevitably have this prejudice. The word is also a pun on 'Russian Fascism'.
